I TRIED Making $1400 a Day With Google News (Is It Legit?)

Have you seen those viral YouTube videos claiming you can make anywhere from $300 to $1,400 a day using Google News? The promises are huge — no special degree, no prior experience, and it’s supposedly a worldwide method. Naturally, I had to give it a try.

---

Step 1: Explore Google News

First, I opened google.com and searched for Google News. This is the world's biggest news aggregator, with updates happening in real-time.

The strategy? Pick a trending topic, preferably in the Health or Business category (as suggested by many viral videos).

---

Step 2: Choosing a Story

I found a compelling article on CNN titled “Ultraprocessed Foods Linked to Heart Disease, Diabetes, Mental Disorders, and Early Death”. It’s rich in data, well-structured, and seemed like a good candidate for the method.

---

Step 3: Rewriting the Article Using Spinbot

Next up, I followed the YouTube tutorial and copied the entire CNN article into Spinbot.com, a free text rewriting tool.

The results? Well… not great. It mostly swapped a few words for awkward synonyms, introduced grammar issues, and even used terms like “meta-investigations” instead of “meta-analyses.”

This clearly wasn’t good enough to pass for original writing.

---

Step 4: A Better Rewrite Using AI

Instead of using a cheap spinner, I tested the free version of ChatGPT. Here’s the prompt I used:

> Re-write this article using simple language, and make a clear structure with subheadings, bullet points, and references to the sources.

The result? A structured, well-written summary of the original article. It wasn’t just reworded—it was thoughtfully rewritten with clarity and flow.

The Ethics of Rewriting News Content

Now, let’s get real. I’ve worked as a content manager and editor for over 7 years in an online news outlet. And here's what I can tell you: respectable publications don’t accept rewritten articles without attribution.

Most viral tutorials conveniently skip over this.

Editors read the same news sources daily. They’ll recognize when content is lifted and reworded from somewhere else, even if you use AI. If you send them rewritten Google News content and claim it's original, you'll get flagged — or worse, blacklisted.

---

Step 5: Sending It to Editors

The next step from the viral video was to send your rewritten article to editors — in this case, at EatingWell.com. The video even provided an email address.

I tried following that part too. I looked all over their website but couldn’t find the supposed "Writer's Guidelines" page. Eventually, I found an email address and sent my article. Within minutes, I got a response:

The email address no longer exists.

No surprise there. If I were an editor flooded with AI-rewritten spam, I’d shut down the email too.

Behind the Scenes: The Reality of Editorial Work

When I worked as an editor, even human-written, free guest post submissions were carefully filtered. We still rejected most of them.

Imagine now getting thousands of AI-rewritten articles that offer no value. No wonder many sites shut down their submission pages.

So… Can You Really Make Money With This Method?

Short answer? Not like the videos claim.

Tools like Google News and free spinners are available to everyone. Why would a top website pay you to rewrite an article they can rewrite better themselves?

But — there is a real way to make money writing content.
